This particular section was one of the most challenging sections to build out for a couple of reasons.
1. Personal Information/Verifying User: When a user created an account on Bolster, we need the user’s social security and other personal information in order to pull their credit report. This meant we wanted to make the user know that their information was going to be secure on our platform as well as we wanted to verify the user when they were creating the account.
2. Questionnaire: The credit bureaus require a personal questionnaire that helps identify the user when pulling the user’s credit report. The questionnaire had to be a minimum of 3 questions and had to be related to the user’s employment, a previous address, and the user’s banking information.

When I began looking into layouts for the homepage, one idea I had to consider was that the stakeholders wanted to display a credit score graph, show tips, and have some kind of CTA section that would get the user engaged in the platform.

The credit section on the Bolster platform is specifically for reviewing a user’s credit report. There is a lot of information in these reports so I had to figure out how we could simplify information so that the user would easily be able to scan the report. Also, one big thing that the stakeholders wanted is to let users dispute errors on their credit report. This would be a “unique” feature on the Bolster platform.

The “Disputes” section is where a user can manage all their disputes. The top nav is where a user will be able to toggle between “Queued, In progress, & Completed” disputes. Again, the main emphasis was to provide tips to help users understand how to submit/edit/delete a dispute and explain what each dispute status represented to our customer.

Bolster analyzes the user data to offer the most relevant services based on their financial situation, spending habits, financial history and score. I had to design this section differently depending on the offer. This had to do with the information we had to display based on the type of credit card, loan, banking, etc.

I really enjoyed working with Bolster and on this project. This was my first mobile application that I got to work on as well as my first project that I started from scratch. The foundation I built with the Bolster will help them get to launching the application.
One thing I wish I got to experience when working on this project was to run user testing on the app. Unfortunately, I had to step down from the project due to personal reasons and never got to run those tests. However, I learned a lot from working on the project and saw my UI design skills development during my time at Bolster.

When talking to the different stakeholders at Bolster, there were many factors that took into how they wanted to design the product.

Before I started building out wireframes, I worked with the Brand Designer/Illustrator to build out a design system. This would help us standardize components that the engineers can reference and use throughout the platform. These were the UI elements that I contributed to the design system.

There are a lot of complexities when it comes to the credit industry especially when it comes to pulling customer’s credit report. The three credit bureaus require any customer to fill out a questionnaire to confirm their identity before they can see their report. This was something that was required when creating an account on the platform.
